Working under the name of Public Architecture + Communication, we’ve been developing some fun for a Lower Mainland beachfront building. A sleek modern café and changeroom structure, this building lies on the border between a popular playground and an ecologically-sensitive wildlife habitat. Our identity work for the project includes type and palette design and supersized washroom signage—familiar icons, but suitably attired for beach fun. Strategically-placed interpretive graphics—washroom signs, garbage can wraps, printed café umbrellas and t-shirts—let beach-goers know about the varied plant and animal life going on all around them.
